I've travelled many times across the whole of the UK moving from one end of the country to the other to live. Granted it's not as vast as America, but if I could give one piece of advice, I'd say make sure it's what you want 100% and not just for some piece of ass.

Hope you have thought about the drastic living expense difference (CA taxes in general, rent, even utilities)

    things like moving long distances
    • unless you're planning a uhaul road trip (doubt it) then you need to really need to value items you consider essential that you couldn't just stick in a car (bed, sofa, etc.) as the cost of moving those probably outweigh the worth

getting a job over the phone
    • i think that is pretty antique (at least in my experiences), you'll probably have a webcam chat on something like meetme

Assuming you want to live in a nice part of SD (have no experience whatsoever there but seeing just rent rates $2k+), you should start already looking into rent necessities (qualifications like income typically being 2x base rent, joint lease with friend, probably will have to ask parents to co-sign a lease for credit/lack of rent history which might be a hard talk)

well the plan isn't go move right in the middle of the city, but somewhere outside the city where commute is longer but places are cheaper. on another note, credit and the money i have in bank rn is fine but moving there and having income where im losing money is my issue.

I moved from Alabama to Utah a few years ago, before moving to Nebraska, and just make sure you start the job immediately. None of this we have to wait for your physical, background, and drug test to clear because that can take 2 weeks (most people don't have 2 weeks worth of money saved up to live on after spending a lot moving). GL on the move and new job though man
