I think on a MC level it surpasses other hip hop subgenres, but it's so limited that it will never surpass something like gangsta rap, sort of like how drill is at a stalemate, people like Tracey are putting it more on the map though

The reason i think it hasn't blown up completely is because the words they say others cant relate or understand but i do think eventually it will pass all of rap that comes out of the US. U.S rappers are shocking now days, none of them can spit (majority of the new ones, that are famous)

Can't stand the complete crap that's classed as mainstream rap, or rap in pop music. US or UK.
Grime isn't anything new it's just had a bit of a comeback in recent years. I guess that's a good thing.

I think if it was to blow up, it would have done already, Rocky bought it to the mainstream and it got rejected. Then you have pioneers like Dizzee and even Wiley that hit the US scene but couldn't get in, because people don't care about rapping on grime beats, they care about what's popping in the club, hence why someone like Lil Uzi is huge. I think that the Skepta project was proof of that, a really good album with great production, even Pharell, but it's not enough because that's not what's popping. Same with Timbaland

I think it will be bigger then us in 2019 or 18, just because im starting to think these people that make love songs and rap songs are starting to sound familiar
