1. There have been so many jokes about Ebola at least in the colleges. If you know what 'Yik Yak' is and are involved in it you will see so many posts that are being funny like "Ebola can't get in here because it can't afford tuition." Just like Kony, and just like a lot of other events that happen in 3rd World Countries.
2. Ebola has caused 3,300 reported deaths. That really isn't that much if you think about the amount of people that in those third world countries die of Hunger/Dehydration and many of other diseases that they have to worry about. There are so many other topics that we could talk about with those countries and about helping them out, but we really don't because it doesn't affect us. Which brings me to my next point.
3. Ebola has been around for a while now. I am not sure how I heard of it, but I remember being in 5th grade and hearing about Ebola being a disease that causes internal bleeding and all that. While, I didn't know the specifics, I still knew about it. However, it has never been blown up this much until someone got infected that lives int he United States. We don't look at issues unless they actually effect our lives.
Frankly, there are plenty of other diseases out there that can be affecting us, and if we have the people who do go in those third world countires take the extra precaution to NOT get infected by Ebola while we work on a vaccination then we are fine. We still have so many other viruses and other diseases out there that are fatal that we don't pay attention to. Let's not get carried away with Ebola now.
