Hey guys, I recently just moved house's that I can only get 15 gig of Data usage a month, I use to host my own RSPS in my old house as I had unlimited and it was fairly fast... Since I have moved house's I am looking at buying a VPS and the only good priced one I can find has only 1 Gig of ram, My question to you guys is will 1 Gig of ram be good enough? and how many players would 1 gig support without my engine load being so freaking high!
1 gig is enough. it is on how well your java knowledge is to lower the process. the higher the ram of course the more players, but you can get away with 1 gig.
should be, if you manage to get enough players to the point it lags, by that time you should have enough donations to buy a better VPS.
Yes, Well At the moment I am a very small server the most players I have had on online I think was 20 but I only rarely see it reach 10 LOL!, Thanks for your input guys, Makes me feel a lot better in buying the VPS
If you can manage 10 players online with 3.5%(MAX) Engine load, is that decent if you're on 2GB of ram?

Windows = Enough
Linux = More than enough
i run 260 real players on 1.5 gig ram so you shouldn't have any issues > linux
Its rather dependant on the server... 1GB should be enough with most bases though apart from wL bases like Delta...
1GB ram for windows and hosting a server? Probably not..
1GB using Centos Linux sure.
