    My rant.

Okay, i have noticed a lot of differences between American English and British English recently. People are saying that American English is the true way of spelling things and that British English is wrong.

Just remember where English originated from first.

The first English was used in England, before America was even found. This means that obviously the true English came from England. But what really bugs me is that Americans have the nerve to say that British English is wrong, and that they speak perfect English.

True English is from England, and therefore the only way of speaking perfectly true English is by speaking British English.

I am NOT saying that Americans speak wrong English, I'm just saying that some people in America think they speak true English and say that British English is wrong.

Also, I have found that many American words are shortened down versions of British words. This means that you can't speak true English, as it goes against what original English goes by.

American English also uses sound instead of written.

    E.G.

    BrE: Organise
    AmE: Organize
    BrE: Centre
    AmE: Center
This is a more slavic form of writing. The slavic alphabet is based upon sound and that is what American English is heading towards.

While Latin and British English are based more upon written forms of wording.

My conclusion is that some Americans should stop being so arrogant about their forms of writing compared to ours, as they never can really speak true English without speaking British English due to all the reasons I have just typed.

I'm also saying that most Brits don't speak true english, as a lot of American spellings are getting into peoples heads. I myself would rather keep the traditions of British English though.

    Discuss + No Flame

Once again. I am not saying that Americans speak English properly. I'm just saying that they don't speak English in a truer form compared to British English.

I agree with the post above me. Everyone has the right to speak English as they please. As long as it's grammaticly correct by American or British standards.
