Xfire & MSN [A brief Introduction about em']
Welcome to another review that I've created out of pure bordem. This time however; I'll be focusing on something that most of us use. It even helps us socialize online but not so well offline. This is called instant messaging or IM for short. If your new to the computers then a short explantation is below.
Quote:
Instant Messaging (IM for short) allows users to communicate fast around the globe.
I've actually pulled that out of my head in a couple of seconds. There are some programs that allow you to instant message, but I'll have to admit some aren't as great as others. That's why it's important to focus on a couple at a time. For now, let's focus on MSN and Xfire.
What's the main difference between the two?
Basically the difference from Xfire and MSN is that one is for gaming and chatting, and one is for chatting with your friends while doing nothing or playing nothing. The reason Xfire is on this list is because it contains many features and keeps the performance high. MSN does still work while you game however; you'll have to tab out to talk and it does get annoying when people nudge you while playing.
Features:
MSN
Code:
1] Popular & User Friendly
2] Safe with built in Virus Scanner
3] Customizable
4] Organize with Folders & Favorites
5] Video Live Chat Capabilities
Xfire
Code:
1] Supports Thousands of Games
2] Ingame Screenshot & Video Taker
3] Profile Creator with Hours & Screenshots etc
4] Ingame Web Browser/Voice Chat
5] Plentiful Themes
So there you have it. Some lists of features from both and if I was going to recommend one I'll recommend MSN. The reason is because most of your friends who have an instant message uses MSN rather then Xfire. I'm not saying Xfire doesn't have many people, but MSN is more of a chatting program while Xfire focuses purely on ingame chatting and other features. That may not make a lot of sense, but you'll have to download both and try them before you go leaving this thread. I have both and I'm quite pleased with the unique features from both. If you play a lot of games rather then browsing the internet and making new friends who chat with you on MSN, use Xfire. If you like to play some online games and just hang around on forums all day then MSN can be very useful for you. It's just what type of person I guess that makes these two your favorite.
One other thing is that Xfire updates automatically which is extremely useful and fast. With MSN, you sometimes have to manually update and it can be tricky. Although; Xfire is a bit tough on navigating and finding things. There is downsides to both as you can see so as I said just try both and see which one fits you best.
