    Hi,

I've led to think that some users (people), arn't really 'coders', They just think they are, for instance: a guy sees 2 lines of coding in java, he seems to understand it, and now he thinks he knows java

So I'm wondering, what percentage of the (current) 503+ community, do you think knows java?

    I'm guessing around 5-10%

But honestly mates, trying to pull off shit saying that you know java doesn't help in ANY type, shape or form. All it basically does it give you 'interweb rep'. But sooner or later, people are going to noticed that you arn't such a great coder as expected. It's just you just learn, then you can say you know java, instead of making up things.

I like this thread on how it will bring out the true coders, but i can "code" but i can guarantee im not a java expert. I can do simple shops and stuff but nothing complicated.

Depends what level you define as 'can code'. Some people may be able to program simple things, some moderate things, and other advanced. It all depends on your definition.

I think the real question should be:
What percentage of the (current) 503+ community knows how to make their own servers (not bases, but features) with minimal help from tutorials?

I'd say 10-15%, with a 5% margin for those who know how, but are too lazy.

There are some decent coders who don't know alot about java.
They just know how the client and servers work, not actually creating something new.
But there are about id say 40% of the people here know how to code(*Not necessarily in java, but rather RSPS Code*)

By coding, well, i basically mean can you make a simple app without any help, etc.
Trust me, even with a simple app, not lots can do it (without any help)

Thats another thing i wanted to talk about, people jump straight to Runesacpe private servers without actually learning the language
It's true you can learn lots by looking at examples, and just by the basic logic of the code, but you won't fully understand what the funtion is capable of etc without reading about it

I can push my self to learn new things, and I also know a decent amount to seperate me from the really bad, but also keep me from the really good.

I'm afraid there's less 'programmers' then 'coders' in the 500+ section.
