So I have looked through too many forums and have changed too many settings in Skyrim to try and fix my lag issue. I am currently running at 15fps max with literally the lowest settings possible. I disabled every single mod and download content, and I also updated Skyrim to the most recent official patch and still I lag like a mofo. My laptop is not even a year old and I see no reason to lag this hard with my specs. I pray that someone on these forums could help solve my issue so I can actually play this game on my laptop with no lag and possibly even at high settings. I understand that my laptop is not the greatest or most powerful, but I know there is something wrong if I still only get 15fps at the lowest possible settings...

    My Laptop Specs:

    Processor: Intel Core i5-3337U @ 1.8 GHZ

    Ram: 6 GB

    Graphics: Intel HD Grapics 4000

Battery: Charged 100% and Plugged in

Operating System: Windows 7 with highest performance settings

I am wondering if it is just a settings problem or an actual hardware issue. If it has anything to do with my processor speed, could overclocking it a bit possibly help? I seen on a few forums about something called iGPU that would be used instead of the actual graphics card and that could be the issue but I am not big into computer hardware so I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. I will be glad to provide any additional information needed.

If you would like to know how low I put the settings for skyrim:

Intel HD graphics are terrible, they don't have any dedicated ram and render things slow as hell. Your problem lies with your graphics card which is not easy to replace. You may however have another graphics card, try right clicking on the skyrim application and see if there is an option that says "run with graphics processor" if you have this there will be a couple of options there. Select whichever one says something along the lines of high performance processor.

    Good luck

They're not that bad, I ran the 4000 integrated version when building my new pc and waiting for my graphics card to be delivered. I was actually quite shocked at what it could play. I personally think he is limited by the actual CPU clock speed and the fact it is not a real quad core i5.

I always found Skyrim to be rather CPU intensive more so if you have any mods.

It has nothing to do with my processor, it is more than capable to handle skyrim. I have certain times where I run at a constant 60fps so obviously my computer can handle it well I feel like it is just some retarded settings somewhere that I have to change to keep it at that 60fps.

The problem is your processor. From the specs that I've seen from research, it is a dual core with 4 threads total. The memory and graphics should be enough to handle it. The problem is the processor being dual core at 1.8 GHz. From what else I've read (not sure I'm right though) it is also an APU, which also is putting the strain of graphics on the processor itself.
You should check to see if there is any adaptive underclocking going on to save battery or performance. If not, see if there is a way where you can change the clock speed while gaming. (Not sure how it works on Intel, but with AMD I can go in Catalyst Control Center and change the performance of the CPU, graphics card, etc.)
