    Custom Desktop Specs:
ANTEC 902 GAMING CASE - Pretty awful case
8GB Corsair DDR2 (4x 2GB) - 8GB of RAM is nice, but unneeded. Also, I'd suggest you get DDR3 eventually.
320GB Western Digital IHDD - Won't comment, don't know what drive it is.
120GB Western Digital EHDD - Same as above.
1000 Watt Antec Power Supply - Serious overkill.
Liteon 52x CD/DVD RW Disk Drive - As long as it's functional, no problems there.
AMD Black Edition quad core processor @3.20 GHz - I take it it's the Phenom II 955? Good chip as long as it's C3.
Windows 7 Professional x64 updated - Good OS choice.
TWO 22" Viewsonic Full HD Monitors updated - Two monitors for a gaming rig?
Radeon HD 5870 Video Cardupdated - Far better options available nowadays, but not a bad card by any means.

It's a good system for the most part.

You will NOT need anything more than 4GB, you also may get 6GB if you really want to triple-channel, but anything above that is completely UNNECESSARY. Forget about future proofing, there will be DDR4, DDR5, DDR6, DDR7, ...; Your harddrive size is retarded, especially internal and external. 1000 Watt power supply? Are you fucking kidding me? There is ABSOLUTE no need for 1000 watt, you're just wasting money and wasting money on electricity bill. The computer only use like 15% of your power supply. You would of invested the money on new monitor or a keyboard. 52x CD/DVD? 52x? wat. And why the fuck do you have "god-tier" processor with all shit-tier specification on it. You didn't mention which graphic card do you have.
I'd say you're the one being an idiot here. RAM is cheap, why not get 8GB? AMD CPUs don't use triple channel RAM. Why is his HDD size retarded? He may not have any use for more than that. I'll agree that 1000W is overkill, but computers only take up as much power as they need. He's not 'wasting' any money on his power bill. Learn more about hardware before you flame.

OP, I read that you plan on upgrading to water cooling. Even so, a 1000W PSU is not needed. Even if you added a second 5870, you'd still be below the 700W mark. The only way this system will ever need that much is if you upgrade to a cards based on the Fermi architecture like a GTX 580.

But I have no room to talk, I have a TX850 on a system that barely uses 500W.

Finally not a dumbass. Thanks. I think the 902 case is awesome... I had the antec 300 now it has some gateway mobo in it though.

I got the 1000 watt because it was on sale and I never know what I will upgrade to.. This is the first PC ive built and I just keep rebuilding it

you still wont need a 1000w for your "upgrades".

5870 is an old card but still moderate. awesome for mining though.
AMD is for budget gamers and not that powerful.

how is it old school? rofl. Brand new antec case, everything inside is brand new.. lol
It's very old school. You might not realize how fast technology evolves.

    AMD < Intel

    Intel + NVIDIA > AMD + ATI

And its not even a close match-up between the two. Right now the intel i7 can be overclocked to 5.0ghz with top of the line cooling... its the best processor on the market. And as far as I know the nvidia gfx cards perform better on fps benchmarks in comparison to ati.

Not hating or anything. But right now there are builds that would DESTROY yours. Even on a medium budget.

EDIT: SandyBridge (haha, irony) has it right.

    EDIT2:

Oh shit. I saw White Girl's post. She is the most negative person I have ever seen on any forum, and from what I read... she has absolutely no fucking clue what shes talking about.

I despise the fuckheads who always say "OVER 4GB OF RAM!!!!???? OMG ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY!!!" They get so fucking buthurt over that its not even funny. IN TRUTH, 8GB+ is MANDATORY for extremely large photo editing and HD video editing. 8gb ram is also good for gaming, because you know youll do fine no matter what.

Exactly. Back in the DOS days 640 KB was apparently enough for anybody, but obviously it wasn't. Saying 4 GB is enough is just the same .

I hate how people under-estimate Windows XP. I mean, Windows 7 is nice but, it's very buggy and x64 Operating Systems aren't as compatible with software.

The only reason I love XP is because it's EXTREMELY stable.
You can customize an XP to the fullest extent.

    My specs

    Windows XP x32 OS
    Intel® Core™ i7 990x Extreme Six Core Processor (3.46GHz, 12MB Cache)
    12GB of RAM
2 Terabyte SATA II hard drive
    Pink LED casing

    $6,400 Cutomized
