My setup:
Alright so I moved recently in August in which I threw out my old scuffed desk that was falling apart. For the longest time I had my monitor on a box and the mouse/keyboard on my bed. Looked online for a corner desk I could buy and found either shit desks or $500 dollar desks that I wasn't going to buy, plan was to just make my own desk for at least $150 less... Ended up spending probably $650+ (Not including the 100+ on some tools) on this new build but I had a fun/shit time making it while trying not to lose my shit.
Due to moving and starting this desk the in november I was faced with cold weather + rain, so was forced to work in a garage that was full of junk which 50% of that junk should've been tossed. That being said for how this desk turned out given the work environment I was in and limited tools I had at the time, I'd say this turned out better than I expected. Haven't really done any woodworking before aside from a small jewelry box, so this was a pretty big project for me to do that I did on my own.
Spoiler for Workspace:
Now for the desk I bought all the material at a hardware store, which isn't exactly a good idea when woodworking but I had some ideas... I went with kiln dried 2x8's SPF that I had to rip down to 2x4's because there wasn't any 2x4's available for the kiln dried lumber(Due to most tools still being packed at the time, I couldn't used a table saw like I wanted to so I used a skillsaw...), also went with some kiln dried 2x6 SPF. 1x10 knotty pine, 4x4 S4S cedar posts and a 4'x8' 3/4 maple plywood ripped down to 2'x4' at the store.
Onto the pictures:
Spoiler for Progress pictures(Sorry it's a lot of pictures):
49" TV added to the setup!:
Spoiler for 49" TV:
New addition:
I had seen a couple computer setups using LED strips so I ordered a 16" strip off amazon for like $25 bucks. Only used 10' of it, when I eventually get myself a flatscreen I'll possibly buy another LED strip to put behind the TV. Don't plan on buying anymore strips though as I don't want to overdo it, although I wouldn't mind something directly under my desk though if anyone has suggestions. Anyways it turned out good so here's some media.
Spoiler for LED light strips:
Got a new computer with dual monitors:
Spoiler for Media:
Originally was going for these 2 $100 60hz monitors, which went out of stock so I bought 2 $139 75hz monitors which was a pretty good deal. Bezel is pretty large on the monitors, but I don't really care.
As for the computer I went with a prebuilt one, I know it's something that not everyone is fond of... Didn't want to make one, even though I watched videos on how to build one after purchasing this prebuild lol. Anyways the power supply and motherboard aren't exactly the best, but that's the least of my worries right now.

This is really really cool! We love seeing work like this, a good setup is ideal.
If you still haven't purchased that mousepad yet and looking for a special mousepad, perhaps post an Amazon Link here - let's see if we can hook you up.
Giving me ideas man!! So awesome
Great job Goose. Looks pretty dang good for your first big project.
By the way, wanna make me one?
Also, did you count the time you've spent making it?
It looks amazing. Creating something like this can be so frustrating, I bet you almost lost your mind. Desk would look better with a tim hortons coffee on it.
I only worked on this throughout the days I had time to myself on the weekend, with acception of staining/applying a finish coat during my work week. A couple days I'd spend 9am to 1 am just working on it lol, but for the desk I'd say a good 10+ hours on the planning, 45 hours on the desk and 25 hours on the desk frame. I didn't want to have any mess ups during this project so I just went at my own pace and maybe include 5+ hours of time just trying to find tools/move shit around in that garage.
Definitely was shit, like ensuring everything is square since every 1/8" adds up. I actually thought about adding my own cup hold hehe.
Dude good work. I like the hard work. Nice doggo you got there too
