    Okay,
So it's been some time since my last post of my PC which can be found here

    Here's the new one

    Specs:
    CPU - Intel Core i5 6600K @ 3.50GHz
    RAM - 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3
MOBO - Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z170-HD3
    GPU - 1535MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (Sapphire/PCPartner)
    HDD1 - 1TB Western Digital
    HDD2 - 500GB Western Digital
    SSD - 250gb Samsung Evo
    Wireless adapter - TP-Link
    LEDs - Nzxt something

Got my dads yahama stereo speakers which i've hooked up to my surround sound (base speaker is under desk so you can't see) - Some wicked sound god damn.

    So yeah. That's it.
    I'm sure some will criticise about certain things, such as;
    - RAM, you should have gone for DDR4 instead of DDR3, i know i know. I went for DDR3 as i had it laying around and a decent amount of it, so i used it.
Also, DDR4 is actually becoming relatively cheap nowadays so i definitely will invest in some of that good stuff.
    - GPU, f*** me, a 660? Yes, a 660. Why? Because i didn't feel the need to splash out a great amount of money on a gpu considering all i do is play League of Legends and maybe render some shit on c4d once in a while.
It does more than i need. Also, with upcoming releases of GPU's, there's no need to buy one now, i might aswell wait some time.

Bam. I've had this baby for 2 hours already since i built it, haven't done much but i love it.

Sorry for no more in-depth photos, opening it up is too much effort for me.
    Opinions?

i don't think it's very efficient to just mix ram of different brands/specs up. you said you just had some laying around which is why i'm saying that

yeah man, ddr4 is the way to go.

Meh your not gunna see much of a gain in using DDR4 right now. Theres no point buying new ram.

Iirc skylake supports ddr3 backwards compatibility so what about ddr3 on a ddr4 mb. If doesn't apply never mind lol

Wouldn't it be slower to support an older type of memory when you want to have maximum performance out of ddr4

I doubt supporting ddr3 will slow the down the processor? Will just be an instruction set.

I'm guessing its better for marketing to have backwards compatibility, considering most people wont see many performance increases from DDR4 anyway. Plus if they only supported DDR4 people that are just looking to upgrade their cpu to latest gen would have to get a new motherboard and ram. I mean skylakes the first consumer grade (not enthusiast) group of processors to support ddr4, its a transition phase.

You'll need a Z710 motherboard that has DDR3 compatibility, like this one here. You cannot however, use DDR3 memory in a Z710 motherboard, which only supports DDR4 memory, or vice versa.
Spoiler for ScapeRune's definition of success:
