Ok well i need to format my computer and reinstall Windows XP ( I dont have the Disk )

So im wondering can i just do it like this, Download a version of windows.
Install it so it will appear on a menu as kind of a dual boot i belive is what you call it (when you start up your computer it asks you to choose which OS you wish to use)

Just wondering could i just install a new version of windows and delete the old one afterwards ?

Answer of your last question, u can do that, but i wont suggest it.
Just make a recovery cd of all your wanted files u want to keep.

Download a windows version u like,
Make a cd of your windows version.
Turn the cd into your pc, restart your computer - boot from cd.
Format ur hd , and install

Just as resa said. But burn as an image as most download versions require that.
    What i normally do.

    1) Partition Magic to format HD
    2) Boot from CD and install windows
