What is maleware?
Malware is a term used to describe a wide group of damaging software that includes viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, adware etc. The malware can create brief annoyance to computer crashes even identity theft. Malware avoid is easier than it is to remove. The best way to protect your PC is to take preemptive measures. Run anti malware software with active scanning to protect your PC. The most vital thing is to ensure your computer is updated completely. Security updates are crucial to closing credulous holes in operating system and applications. Follow these instruction sets to secure your system from Malware Trojans RATS etc!
What is a RAT?
What does a R.A.T do?
A remote administration tool (Will be referred to as “R.A.T” from here.) is a tool which makes someone else able to control your computer. A legal example of a R.A.T is Team viewer. Of course, Team viewer is safer since you can control access.with the password provided. However, with most R.A.T’s you will have no idea you have them.
Preventing this is necessary. It can read anything you type, either it is Runescape details, bank account details or MSN addresses. So, how do you do it?The best thing to do is get a virus scanner and a program designed against malware and spyware.
I made a small list of programs you can use.
Kaspersky
Avast
Bullguard
Nod32
AVG HIGHLY USED AND DETECTION FOR RATS/KEYLOGGERS
These are only a handful virus scanners that can protect your computer. There probably are more then 30 others. These are given as they are well known. However, this does not cover the Anti-Malware / Anti-Spyware.
You can download those programs here:
Hitman Pro 3
Malwarebytes
Spybot-S&D
To ensure the best protection you will also need a Firewall. You can either use the windows standard or use one of these:
ZoneAlarm
There isn’t much on this subject. The obvious things about a file make it suspicious; you should always double-check if you download from an unknown source. However, there are a few things that will reveal the key logger or R.A.T’s identity. For one, most key loggers are small. Of course, there are key loggers that can be even 100GB big. Most of the time if you are downloading either a game or another file and you don’t really trust it, just check it.There are more things you can do to check your file. Most of the time, there are lazy people trying to get some quick loot for Runescape or other game. Most people do not check their key logger for mistakes and that’s where we can profit from.Might be a bad example picture, but I will replace it with a better one soon. This is from a well-known key logger which a lot of people use. Of course, there are many more of them.
If you want more detail on How to protect yourself You can download a program called sandboxie Which basicly allows its own space on your computer the program you run with sandboxie will stay in that space and IF it has any type of software It will not spread...
This is for checking external programs in the files and letting you check them
Here is a picture of me showing a example!
Ofc This is for People who are not experienced in programming and will just bind a RAT/Keylogger to a File.
There are better ways to see such as opening the source code to the program thus showed in this picture
If your virus scan or anti-malware cannot find anything, you will have to do it manually. This can be done by checking your downloads. Another good thing to do is to check your start-up files. You can use these programs to easily check what you have running each time your computer starts up. Just as a reminder, watch out with what you disable. Do not disable anything important, to check if your computer needs it, please Google it.

- sandboxie is good, however, there's a lot of malware out there that is anti-sandboxie (passes it), the only real safe environment to run a potential virus is on a pc you don't use
- You'll rarely find a virus that hasn't been encrypted, making the viewing source code thing quite redundant.
Just as an info: Viruses can be bound to any working application, so when you run the application it may seem to run fine, however in the backend it's infecting you.
I think the biggest tip to give to rs players in the matter of malware is a) do not download anything off of youtube, b) do not open runescape emails (if you don't know how to tell difference between phishing emails).
All the programs can be found on google for free REMEMBER THIS!
This is helpful to some new members / non expert people

Nice guide, few things though:

Not sure if it's still around but 'Dark Comet' who are the creators of one of the largest R.A.T kits released a R.A.T detector and remover.
Hope this helps.
Great guide, thanks.
bump so people will know.
Clueless as to why you posted this in the rs section when it's a pretty generic guide. Also, parts like this:
Make it seem like you just copied this guide from somewhere else. You can download those programs here:
