Dad is taking me to get a new laptop soon. I need suggestions. Cheap, light, but solid.

Yea if he wants to pay $1000+ for cheap plastic with mediocre hardware he should buy an Alienware.
OP: I'm not sure what your budget is but if you want a cheap but still good laptop, I'd recommend the ASUS Vivobook series. They can get as low as $400 I think and they are overall pretty solid.
If you don't get the most amazing build ever, they can vary from $350-$600 for the cheaper ones. I don't really understand how you can call the hardware mediocre considering it's just as good as the other brands. Though the one you mentioned is more favorable in terms of my liking, I do like the thinner design.
Any specific specifications?
We need a budget?
