Don't you want to install it not use the live?
|
I went online and found the Desktop Ubuntu 7.0 Desktop, but when I start up from CD it says "The Default option is 'live', if that doesn't work, use 'live video=ofonly'"
So "live" didn't work for me, so I used "live video=ofonly". It goes to a white screen, then after that it goes to a black screen which said "Loading...Please wait". Right after that screen I get to a black screen with a "_" in the top left corner. After about 10 minutes at that screen I figured that it doesn't install. Any suggestions?

You can probably install from via a gui in the live cd. iirc, thats the only way ubuntu offers to install the desktop version.
As far as I know, the Ubuntu desktop offers both Live and Wubi Installation. IIRC, it offers a command-line install too.
I don't care how it gets installed, my trouble is that when I try to install it all it does is "Loading...Please wait". It doesn't go anywhere past that. If it has to be installed by Command-line then thats fine.
Does anyone know if I can install Ubuntu on my computer, but still have Mac OS X?
Also, I need to know how to install it. Is there a command at the boot screen to do it if the other installation doesn't work? Do I have to burn an earlier version and try it then?
I just want to install Ubuntu so I can make a PS because Mac OS X is dumb and nothing Java_related works on it. Moparscape doesn't work, I get an X in the corner, and even Runescape works very slow, even though nothing else thats not java doesn't.
Please reply
Aha, you're right. Never noticed ubuntu's command-line installer before.
Try and download:

Sorry, but I forgot to mention that I need the PPC Version. Can I just get 7.10 Alternate or will that not work? Does the Alternate version still let me make a Private Server when it's done being installed?
Follow my tut, it works well.
Also works if you insert cd too.

I would use that guide. There are more out there im sure.
maybe it would make sense to get 8.10? as it works perfect and with no problems.
