Okay, I bought killing floor an fps on steam about 3 weeks ago and was able to play it just fine, until it randomly crashes my computer. Im not sure what kind of crash, but all it does is turns my whole screen black and most of my hardware stop running as I notice my laptop fan or something spinning a little less or stops spinning. I googled it a bit and believed it was my video drives/card crashing while playing the game. I kept on playing even though it kept crashing, but I eventually grew annoyed and wanted to fix it. Googled a way to fix it and one option was to update my video drives, I went on my cs 1.6 gaming community and asked where I could get free updates and such. One friend asked my operatin system and computer specs and sent me to a download. I downloaded it, asked me this and that. It was done loading, friend said it was suppose to ask for a restart, but never asked me so I was just like eh, I'll do it later. Went back into playing killing floor and the game crashes. I manually power it off like I always have to when it crashes and try turning it back on, it turns on, but my monitor doesn't turn on and I don't hear the noises I usually hear from my computer during a start up, just really quiet, but if I were to put the computer on my ears, I'd hear things being ran softly, but it just sits like that forever. Did some googling about that and came upon a website that said maybe the update wasn't compatible with my computer, but who knows..*

I'm here wondering if anyone can offer me help on fixing the issue. I've tried turning it on and just f8ing hoping to get the monitor on and open up the screen showing safe mode and such, but no luck doing that. I read about having to open up my laptop and do things, but not sure if I wanna take that approach. But I might attempt if someone's able to give me a more understandable and thorough guide of what needs to be done or what I can do since I can't do anything if my computer won't start up properly.

    These were my specs:

This was the update I downloaded, the hydravision package

    Legacy

You've just got a shitty computer. Upgrade or lower your settings.

Your comment doesn't really help my cause seeing as I obviously can't turn on my laptop to do so.. I bought this laptop for doing school work and for business and it functioned fine running those programs I used. It also ran runescape fine, along with another 3-4 bots running and about 3-5 chrome tabs opened with teamspeak running. While I was rspsing, I had 15+ tabs always opened, 2 eclipses running and 2 servers with about 2-5 client applications opened, Never lagged at all.

Not everyone has and wants to throw in 1k+ on a desktop/laptop. It would've been a different story if I were to buy something more for gaming obviously. When I bought this, the laptop had good ratings and was four starred and was made by a good company, Sony. So I bought it and never complained about it. This is the only first real issue I have.

If the computer IS NOT RESPONDING AT ALL when you go to turn it on, your board is probably bad. It's at least $200 for most laptops to replace a board. That's more than 70% of the value so it might as well be considered totaled.

I would start investing in an upgrade if I were you. How old is your computer? Those parts are quite dated..

Have you tried cleaning out the fan?

My laptop was about 500 so thats only about 40%. Idk if it's not responding or not as I can't tell with my monitor being off.. I do hear some things start up, but I know there should've been more things or there's just one thing that made the most noise on start up that doesn't start up anymore
