I'm looking to buy a NAS server for home and need at least 1 TB of usable storage.
My budget is about £300.
Any suggestions?

Mainly just for file storage.
To address the following issues:
1. I've had a billion USB's over the years and I'll either end up losing them, I forget to unplug it/leave it at home, they stop working or they're just incredibly slow. Personally, file storage on a USB just isn't safe.
2. Cloud is an okay solution however large files take ages to upload and then download when needed. I need an offline solution that is easily accessible by everybody in my house hold.
NAS is just a great on-prem solution for what I need and it opens me up to a few cool things for stuff like virtualisation. There are also all RAID jazz included.
Ended up getting Synology DiskStation DS220+
I use some of the wd mycloud home nas for media streaming and file saves but these are often more expensive and prone to update/hardware issues than other options out there but it is incredibly simple to get it up and running, so it really depends on your preference but if I ever change them out which I will do ill go for Synology as I have had a better experience with these as of late especially in the longevity area.

This build along with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] is used for my home NAS. Great for storing my photos, any videos and other things like running my Minecraft server. Many of the pc parts are extras I had around the house from my old builds. Works great!![]()
It thinks the power supply isn’t compatible but it comes with a bracket that makes it compatible; pcpartpicker doesn’t account for small details like this, you’d just have to do your own research. But yeah the build was done over a year ago and it works great. I only spent like $300 when I build it since I already had most of the parts from previous builds of mine.
