    Hey guys,

Have been sitting on a bit of cash recently and honestly as much as this is overkill it really adds a nice feature to my new studio. Originally I built this with pure aesethics in mind but ended up forking allot of money into the hardware itself. Most of this is purchased from overseas and was built in the aus. Total cost I roughly spent 4.5k on this (probably lost quite a bit aswell, but it was a super fun journey). Now I know many of you might think that majority of this hardware is too overkill but this is now my #1 bae.

    • Custom painted motherboard shield for unique “arctic” look
    • EK components were used except CPU water block as EK’s CPU water block do not look very good
    • GALAX GTX1080Ti HOF water-cooled Edition, rare in Australia or even in the world! $1500 when bought! 3x 8pin pcie power, this might be the fastest 1080Ti on the market, easily OC to over 2.1Ghz
    • Lots of RGB, Great in-case lighting
    • Spec:
    • Asus Maximus X Formula Z370
    • Intel Core i7 8700K
    • G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200Mhz C16 8GBx4
    • Samsung 960EVO 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD
    • GALAX GTX1080Ti Hall Of Fame Water-cooled edition
    • Corsair RM750x White 80+ Gold Power Supply
    • Corsair 570X RGB all fans swapped with LL120 RGB
    • Total 5 LL120 RGB fan included
    • Corsair LED Lighting Pro 4 LED light strip
    • EKWB Fitting, Pump, 4cm thick 360mm radiator, RGB reservoir and tubing

The build is beautiful and perfect for an enthusiast-level build, congratulations! The motherboard is gorgeous. I love the arctic aesthetic on the interior. If I might ask, what made you choose an i7 8700k over something more powerful? Was it purely price or did you factor in performance? I've been loving the i7 7700k that I upgraded to a number of months ago, but have considered potentially upgrading to an i9 next time around. Thoughts?

It was most certainly price, it got to the end of the build and my budget where I realised that some of the hardware I had to purchase had to be a little less pricey. The cooling setup itself but RGB was $1750 aud.

I'm really liking the i9 tbh, but haven't actually done much research on it. My next build will be something more of a monster/super PC though!

Oh, my goodness. This is the primary reason I am hesitant to try my hand at custom water cooling. I considered it with my most recent upgrade, but decided against it and went with an h110i instead. The aesthetic matches the rest of my build and it cools as much as I need it to, so I think I'll be keeping this one a while.

The i9 7900X is the only processor in that family that I have given thought to. The price-to-performance ratio is what trips me up; I usually don't do anything that would warrant or make proper use of 10 cores and 20 threads, it would mostly just be for the thought of having that much power, which doesn't seem to warrant spending $900 on a processor. I considered upgrading to a new i7 or i7 Extreme once the new architecture is released, but who knows. It might not even be worth the upgrade.

    Thanks fellas!

Really trying to think where I can take this, and what to do next. Personally I liked the idea of having an 'open computer' so components sort of spread and maybe put on my wall but not sure how the architectural side would work yet
