the 6700k is a newer platform and has stronger single core performance if your using it as a gaming rig. Plus its cheaper.

Intel Core i7-5820K, MSI Radeon R9 390X, Cooler Master Storm Stryker (White) - System Build - PCPartPicker
My budget is $1,700.
I chose parts based on the CPU.
If you want gaming performance i'd go with a 4790k, the 5820k is more for multitasking and things like video editing.
The i5's lack processing threads, and as an editor, I need as much of those possible. The i7-5820k provides 8 more processing threads than the i5-6600k for only $70.00 more.
Well, I am making a PC build for video editing .
The only advantage I feel the 6700k has over the 5820 is power consumption and MGHz. As far as that, the 5820 supports more versions of RAM, has more four more threads, costs less, and etc.
The 6700k is a superior gaming chip as i said, as the stronger individual cores matter more in gaming which normally dont utilize more than 4 cores, also it is cheaper the the 5820, however yes you would be better with the 5820 for video editing.
If you have vessel this video might be interesting https://www.vessel.com/videos/JdHzNZtpU
If not it will be on youtube next week
If you're using Adobe products, you should buy Nvidia, they use cuda over anything. (Your extra Vram won't even matter)..

This is a silent, stealth build.
