Hai, I think I've made a thread about this before, but Windows is saying I have 3.96 GB of RAM out of my 8. I can always tell how much slower my PC is compared to my brother's(opening programs, games, websites, etc) who has the same specs as me, but has the full 8 GB of RAM.
I have looked up numerous things to try, but none of them have worked. I even tried something Microsoft told me to do, and all it did was destroy my OS(I had to re-install )

Does anyone know how to fix this?

As you can see, I am using a 64-bit OS.

does your graphic card have dedicated memory

this is pretty odd as usually usable is all your ram minus any hardware reserved space.

Yes 2 GB. My dad said he will talk to one of his computer savvy friends.

I'm not completely sure on this fact, however on my old PC it displayed something similar. I did some research and came to the conclusion that about 2GB of RAM is reserved just for Windows (background services, etc.). For you it looks like 4.04GB is reserved, not sure about that but it could have to do with your graphics card not having dedicated memory as stated above. Either that or your motherboard may have a button which checks if the memory is at a stable state ("mem_ok").

Go into your BIOS setup and check how much ram it says available there. If its less than 8gb then there is a hardware problem.
Otherwise, double check you installed the correct 64 bit version of windows.
