Download and run CPU-Z and post a pic of it for me.

That'll give me a bit more info about your laptop.

I'll get CPU-Z soon, but also, the laptop is Lenovo IdeaPad Y510

You won't be able to upgrade your laptop enough to even remotely consider TOUCHING Battlefield 3.

You need to either get a new PC with some actual gaming capability or not bother.

In most laptops all you can really replace is the ram. For my sony vaio, I asked if I could upgrade the cpu
and graphics card, they said it was soldered on.

CPU upgrades can often be done too depending on model, my laptop uses a relatively traditional PGA system, but the price and hassle can end up making that impractical.

OP can't really upgrade his cpu. Provided it's 775 (dunno laptops) he can get a core2quad for $250. He most likely can't upgrade his graphics either and the ram's DDR2 so there's another $100 for 4gb of RAM.

I wasn't specifically talking about the OP, I just mean in general. It's a common misconception that needs to be wiped out.
