That is one of the reasons why I try to stay away from hourly compensation. Another big one is because of how drastically the time it takes for a task changes based on skill level.

OT: I still need more people so feel free to send me a private message. If you are interested in the work please be aware that I am leaving town this Friday and not returning until the following Thursday. I will try to be check in while I am gone and get back to people as soon as I can but response times might be a little longer than normal.

It can be difficult to set a price on a feature or a number of features, so I use an hourly rate of compensation as a base to work off of. I only mentioned an hourly rate of compensation after he asked for an explanation of the price.

I'm sorry but the $50/hr is absurd, ESPECIALLY for a RSPS, lol. You're asking for a wage that a doctor or pharmacist makes with YEARS of college, and even $35 an hour is what a BSN would make and is still absurd for RSPS. Good luck with your search Lunaris.

You can work for whatever price you want, not everyone needs to hire you for it . I don't expect people in the RSPS scene to pay nearly as well as how much I make in a nice office job, or contracting for a company. The reality is that most people only work in the RSPS scene because they're underqualified.

Now, it's been 4 years since I ever worked on any RSPS related thing, so I don't really know how much people are making right now.

Anyways, if you want to get paid $50/hr you can probably find a cushy office job.

I have an office job, freelance in web development, and freelance in this scene periodically when an opportunity arises. I reiterate: I have been paid $50 per hour to develop in this community before, though I understand if an independent founder or small team cannot afford to pay such a rate, so I negotiate to be paid lower. I offered $35 per hour which is a reasonable rate even considering this project having a large budget and only disagreed to $15 per hour.

To compare the compensation of freelance content development to that of a doctor, pharmacist, or BSN is ignorant and misleading.

I also wish him the best of luck with both his search and his project. I am happy to continue debating proper compensation of developers in a private setting but will no longer bloat this thread with unrelated spam.

I wouldn't charge any less than $30 an hour especially since it's unique content, on the flip side if it was something someone else did that's easy and pay per task is better.

No its not, what makes you say that? Some servers makes 6 digits on a monthly, they are more than capable of paying you 35$ / hour and not sweat it.
