Thread: HostGator verification?

Has anyone here ever had to verify their host gator web hosting? They sent me an email after I signed up asking me send them a photo copy of my id and the credit card I used to pay or call them to verify my purchase. Of course I want to call in but you see I am only 17 so I don't have any id or anything and I used my parents credit card to pay... would any of that be a problem in the verification? Or am I better off finding a different web host? If so any suggestion for a good CHEAP web host that doesn't pull this bullshit?

Lol, happened to me too. But I still got my VPS because I said I would cancel the order if I have to send in my id & shit. Lol.

You guys don't understand, they require your details because they must verify your identity. There is a whole bunch of online people who use stolen CCs, then the merchant is going to pay fees for accepting payments from such a person. Sending your details or calling them isn't that hard, every serious and stable company requires that.

Ok, I understand but is it going to be a problem I don't really have anything I could verify except for my parents credit card and in that case wouldn't they need to talk to my parents? Which isn't me lol
