Hey there.

I'm from a new company who will shortly be offering Xen virtualized VPS servers (which are perfect for java applications).

What makes the servers special is they are using high speed Intel Solid State Drives.
Unlike many small companies, we are not simply reselling. We own all our own hardware and pay for a rack in a datacentre, so we know exactly what we are selling.

1 GB, 10 SSD hard-drive, Don't you think that's kind of low?

Not really, for a standard harddisk space you'd be looking at 25-40GB, and seeing as Solid State Drives are about 10-20 times more expensive and the larger read/write speeds make a huge difference to overall performance, I think its fair.

You're looking at about 4 times faster reading and writing minimum. Also this is all brand new hardware so its in its prime.
