hmm okay well I am somewhat vps stupid lol

    I have a 16gb vps that has 200mb up/down a second.(epic imo)

and well yeah how would I go about hosting the cache off that? How can I set download speeds for that specific download? etc.

Like I said though I am fairly vps stupid so be exact haha

You cannot limit a download speed on a file... you can limit an upload speed but not a download given that the utility program has a feature the download just depends on the client and server's speeds of downloading which is taken into consideration, but I don't see the need to limit a download speed... unless your using the VPS for multiple uses... unless you can use some sort of virtualization on it.. but it's a VPS if I'm correct so that would be out of the question... Sounds interesting will keep updated to this thread to see how this turns out.

    - Keep us posted & Goodluck.

Yes you can, most web servers have bandwidth throttling functionality (either built in or as an additional module to install.)

Don't setup a webserver on your dedicated... just purchase a cheaplinux vps a disposable one for like $4 which comes with limited connectivity and host your cache on that... if it get's suspended oh well find another linux vps... you can get alot of bandwidth for $4...

If your hosting a cache, why dont you just do it on dropbox? thats what i do, and it works well, and it free.

Okay here is how I would do it

    1. Purchase a linux vps... very cheap...
    2. Follow the following tutorial [[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] ask your webhost too do it... (they may charge a fee of $5 depending if their managed or not...).
    3. Upload your cache.zip to the following directory... /var/www/html/
    4. Now, you can use the server's ip... 123.456.789/cache.zip or attach a domain and do [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] decision is yours.

Keep in mind this is basic and might be insecure but blah blah just to host your cache...
