Is there ANY difference at all? Does one offer better uptime?

Linux are generally cheaper.
Linux, less ram, equals more available players then windows if both dedis have the same available ram.
Windows, if you don't have any experiences using linux.

What are you people talking about ram for??
Why would Linux mean less ram? Why would windows mean more or less ram? It all depends on the host and the package that they offer. And since the OP didn't even mention a host in this thread, this is NONSENSE.
Do the two people who replied mentioning ram even have servers or know what an operating system is? What RAM is? What web hosting is? This is basics.
Ram has nothing to do with which operating system is better at all, unless you wanted to really dig into specifics (which I doubt the people who replied to this thread actually know about.) It could be argued that a system would use less ram on an operating system without a GUI (e.g. Linux with NO GUI (no preschool ubuntu servers with remote desktop, as that defeats the purpose)) as opposed to Windows which will eat up alot of memory resources running the operating system, leaving less to do server tasks.
But as far as saying a blanket term such as "lol linux has more ram" in the context of a hosting environment where the host hasn't even been mentioned, that's just baffling!

I personally like Windows since it's known, and I am accustomed to its graphic interface, and I personally find it easier to use.
Many may disagree.
