Im thinking way into the future for when im actually finished my RSPS, TivoScape: Rise of the Ninja.

I want to keep my server running 24/7 so i am buying a desktop computer that i can run it off of so i can leave it on. I currently only have a bunch of laptops and you cant leave a laptop running 24/7, they need breaks.

I will also be getting Windows Server 2008.

My question is, What are the ideal attributes for a desktop computer to run a very successful Runescape Private Server?

Why not just buy a dedi? Cheap, easy to use, reliable, and overall better than a desktop hosting.

I bought a dedi from No1Servers - Home and it runs GREAT for my RSPS. And i only had to pay 20$ a month. It would probaly be cheaper than buying a whole new desktop. And on that site you can choose the type of dedi you want, and the specs on it.

How exactly does a "dedi" work?

Well the one i bought from No1Servers - Home works like this.

Its all worked through online. You go to:

    No1Servers Game CP - Login

Then once your there you can log in.

After logged in you go to your file manager, upload your server.

Then once your server is uploaded, there is a box that says, Rune - Stop - Restart. And some numbers above it. The numbers above it are the ip address for people to log onto your server. And then the port is next to it (always 43594) Then you click run, to turn it on, You click Stop to turn your server off, and Restart, to restart it.

Its very simple and a very easy thing to help out your RSPS.

So even if my computer is off, it will still run?

I still never got an answer on good computer specs to run a server.

My mom's buying me a computer for my birthday in a few days and i want to get a good one to run my server until i get Windows Server.

I wont be getting Windows Server for a few months cuz thats when my mom is eligible to get it for like $60.

    Two things,
first i recommend a desktop such as: HP Pavilion Elite HPE-300z series (google it)
Make sure you have 4gb of RAM or more!

Second, [IN MY OPINION] dont waste your moms money buying windows server 2008...either use a copy of windows you already have or just torrent it.
