Thread: how to host a server on a dedicated server! enabling ports!

hey guyssssssssss
i recently bought a dedicated server from xlhost.com and they set it up for me in less than 12 hours which is awesome
but the only problem is that the ports arent forwarded, i contacted them and they said "port forwarding is only used on cable modem/dsl Internet connections and not when you have a server connected directly to the Internet"
i asked my friends they said i need to enable the ports somehow...
if any1 can help i'll rep++ or anything just please post how to do it please! i already paid 100$

what i had to do is :
Go to control panel-->windows firewall --> edit settings --> choose the 2nd tab --> add port > type anything for name and choose the port u host ur server on--> choose tcp and click ok--> click add port again put another anythin for name--> put the same port --> choose udp and click ok
