linux > windows
linux is better than windows because:
1. microsoft sucks
2. like 1
3. like 2
4. like 1,2 and 3
5. windows = bsod, linux = win, stable, cool, open-source, free, etc.
simple google search will provide you with a answer.
Windows
-------------
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: The GUI takes a lot of resources to run, doesn't handle Java threads or networking very well
Linux
------------
Advantages: Handles memory paging better (consumes less RAM), handles the networking and threading in java much better (less lag)
Disadvantages: harder to use for beginners
Those are just the basics, but in general, I find that Linux is much faster and runs smoother.
Disadvantages:
